I'm getting a 6 year old rescue Schnauzer, what do I need?

Me and my family are in the process of getting a rescue dog. He’s a standard Schnauzer called Casper. He’s only been at the Kennels since Saturday. Before he came to the kennels, he was owned by an old couple. The old man died and the woman said she couldn’t cope with looking after a dog. she also said since her husband passed away, Capser (dog) was becoming aggressive to other dogs. However, the kennels staff said they don’t believe that because he is fine with all dogs.

I’m soon (no date set) having a home check. but i’m not sure what that consists of. Do i need all the dog stuff then? (i.e toys, bed ect.)
Do I need to do anything to the garden? Will they check upstairs even though we wont allow the dog upstairs?
^^^If any one has had a check like this before please help!!

I’m speaking as the youngest child of the family (13)
My brother (16)
Mum (4_) She’ll kill me if i tell you! -Early 40’s
Dad (4_) ^^^Yet again -Early 40’s

Summer holidays are almost over :( and if we get him when school starts do you think it will be a problem?
*My Mums a teacher so will be at work from approx. 8-5
*My Dad works from home but sometimes works away and also usually has business trips (He went to Vegas last year!)
*My bother will be starting Sixth Form so will be home a bit, but generally at school.
*I will be in Year 9 so will be at school 9- 3.15

If this is the case what can we do make him comfortable when hes at home??
My Dad would be at home most of the time tho.

Anyone have advice, hints or tips??

Please help!

Thank you! ‘xo

=)

They are basically looking to see if it is a dog safe house, secure place to stay, enclosed yard, ect. Just make sure the dog will have a place to sleep inside and will have room to play and an area to go poop(inside or out).
You will need the basics: food & water bowls, bed, brush, collar & leash, toys ( chewy and plush) and of course some good healthy food like Blue Buffalo, Natural Balance or Solid Gold ( these are holistic and have no junk in them ).
The rescue can tell you anything else you may need to get.
Rescuing is a noble thing…bravo!!
