Why do you think the men continued fishing in the movie 'Jindabyne'?
I had to watch the movie Jindabyne for my Film course. Something I was wondering is what peoples different opinions were on why the men continued fishing after finding the body??

My thought was that they were in shock, and weren’t really thinking straight?

maybe the body was to small nd they had to set it free.

ShroomsShrooms (2006)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: Having been promised the ‘trip’ of a lifetime by their Irish friend and mushroom expert Jake, a group of American teenagers arrives in Ireland, keen for adventure. Despite Jake’s warnings about the ’shrooms they shouldn’t eat, things start to go horribly wrong and the teenagers suffer horrific visions. The panicked friends are attacked by ghostly creatures, never sure whether they are experiencing gruesome reality or startling hallucinations. As the group is bloodily whittled down to one, it is soon clear that, whether or not these apparitions are real, the carnage they leave behind certainly is.

YOU NOR YOUR FRIENT SHOULD TRY IT!
:) :):)
karmen_2010 | Nov 18, 2009

Haha, you be stepping into some real crazy turf.
I took an eighth (25 dollars) the first time and it was out of this world, INSANE visuals… but most people recommend taking a half (15 dollars) first, so you know the effects. You don’t "find" them, you buy them from dealers.
Shrooms are very wild, and in order to OD on them you’d need to be stupid and take a lot more than an eighth. Realize, that shrooms are only for certain people. You must be strong willed, and must know that the reality around you is the same, but the reality within you is clearly distorted.
Shrooms is very spiritual, and is not to be fucked around with, and should be taken seriously. I learned amazing things about myself and life on shrooms.
Make sure you have a "home base" somewhere where you can be safe, although in my opinion being outside in nature is the best approach. Make sure you’re with very close friends with some soothing music. Make sure your entirely ready to trip, if your not, wait.
Good luck and have fun entering a world of unknown proportions.

My dog has a problem with thunderstorms. How do I get him over his fears?
My dog has an extream problem with thunderstorms so much so he gets into things around the house which he shouldn’t and barks incensently even if I am there with him. How can i train him out of this?

Then, along with your sedatives, you must train yourself to STOP giving attention to the unstable dog when he is wigging out. People help create neurotic dogs by pampering them and babying them when they are acting nuts and all that does is to compound the unstable behavior.

Go to your local library and rent Cesar Milan’s first season Dog Whisperer DVD and watch how he handles the dogs who are aggressing. Many dogs show fear and aggression and people don’t seem to know how to react to either one.

People are quick to show human response to canine dysfunction and it never helps the dog, it only makes the problem worse. You must not baby the dog during storms.

you could ask the vet for some sedatives to help calm your dog down during thunderstorms
Qianhui G | Oct 23, 2007

next time there is a storm put him on a leash (so he stays close to you )
correct him every time he freaks out
and if hes just sitting there give him a treat
Tim | Oct 23, 2007

Doubt very much that your dog will ever overcome his fear of thunderstorms.
I had an old English sheepdog that had a fear of fireworks and use to tremble. Every year in November i had to get sedatives from the vets to calm him down
D A | Oct 23, 2007

I alos have this problem, I have tryed sedatives but it did not help. I found if I play some music with the volume up a bit, it helped. Try to reassure him and give him a big cuddle.
woody | Oct 23, 2007

You can’t really do much about it because this is his instrinct taking over in such situations.
One thing you can do if he gets too aggresive or disobeys is to say "sit" with a high voice and confidence in order to make him quiet again. It needs training and a lot of patience. My dog used to hide under the bed. Thunderstorms are not an everyday phenomenon so anytime it happens, you should be alert for your dog not to take the chance to do things he shouldn’t do normally.
The Notorious G.I.R.L. | Oct 23, 2007

First off if you react to the wigging out you are only reinforcing the behavior…if I wig out she pays attention…
Provide your dog with a safe place to "hide"during a storm.
Mine goes into her carrier or right here under the desk by the computer.
They seem to feel safer if they are in close quarters.
She is 7yrs old and has always been afraid of storms…I know 2 hrs. before one gets here by her actions.
If he is being destructive you may want to restrain him with a leash, like the other responder said.
Good luck
LifeHappens | Oct 23, 2007

There are over the counter (melatonin) and prescriptions meds (xanax) that can help a dog during thunderstorms. Do NOT punish a scared dog.

I am going to move into a place where i will meet many new people?
I am an pretty sure i am introverted. I tend to prefer being alone or with a small group of close friends, rather than hanging around strangers at a social gathering. Because of this i tend to talk about things that i am interested for a long time without a problem, i used to get in a lot of debates in class, or i can talk about a video game for hours on end. On the other hand though, when meeting new people I’ve never talked to before, I have a hard time trying to spark a conversation, I am not very good with "small talk." I hate having that awkward silence.

I am going to go into Job Corps and i sort of want to get to meet many people, but honestly i don’t think i can do it. Should i just let new friendships happen naturally or should i try and have some sort of friendship with my new roommates?

It’ll probably be even harder to make new friends since most people don’t really like to hang out with metal heads XD, and if a topic ever gets into religion hopefully me being an Atheist doesn’t make most people judge me. To be honest i haven’t made a new friend in years, that’s probably why this is going to be weird.

I d stop worrying about ppl you havnt met yet…
Steve from PA | Nov 14, 2009

You need to put a positive spin on this. Everything I’ve read, has been written in the negative.
As far conversations go, join in, if you have something to add to them. Just saying "Hi" to someone can lead to a conversation.
Friendships form when two or more people share the same interests. Until you’re comfortable with speaking to people and sharing your opinions, it will be harder to form friendships.
Try a positive approach and see what happens.
